Hot Dogs

A truly great hot dog has three components: the dog, the toppings, and the bun.

There are no rules as to what you put on your dog. After all, it’s your dog! Anything you like works for us. Some of the following are “normal” toppings and condiments, but we’ve added a few somewhat more unusual ones we’ve run into on our travels.

For a fun tailgate party, cook the hot dogs, but have a spread of a dozen or so toppings available for your guests to add themselves. You could even ask them to bring any unusual toppings they’d like to share.

The secret is keeping everything fresh, so when you put out condiments, have them in dishes that can be covered, not only for freshness but to keep those pesky flies away.
